Bob Dobres, LCSW
I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 16 years of providing therapy to adults, teenagers and couples in Portland, Oregon. I work with men and women in all stages of life for concerns ranging from mood problems to relationship and career challenges. I believe that it’s never too late to grow and change.
ABOUT MY WORK
My work is rooted in psychodynamic psychotherapy, which is an effective, evidence-based treatment based on psychoanalytic principles with the goal of deepening an understanding of oneself. It is often useful with problems that don’t respond to other therapies. Psychodynamic psychotherapy brings deep and long-lasting changes.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
I have a Masters Degree in Social Work from Portland State University and a post-masters certification in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy from Oregon Psychoanalytic Center.
I have over ten years of experience as a professional writer in business and communications. I can help you navigate the relationship between personal and professional worlds to live a more balanced and satisfying life.
I completed advanced training in group psychotherapy and improvisational theater, which taught me how to engage with others in creative and collaborative relationships, while having a lot of fun, too. Although therapy can be a serious business, I make room for imagination and laughter. In addition to having a good sense of humor, my clients have described me as insightful, creative, focused, empathic, with a deep curiosity.
